A Long Travel 4

(There is a smart dog here! Whose it?)
I left the hospital about nine. I was feeling better on way. When i arrived my hotel,  I thought i'm luky. If i'm not, I could die. I put down my bag and my phone rang. It was my mother. After she calmed down she told me my sister and brother, they were fine. At the same time i prepared my breakfast. We talked about half an hour.  I had my breakfast and i decided not to stay at hotel today.

I went out and walked around a park independently my map. The park was incrediable, fresh and lifefull.

I looked its sign. I'd like to come here and see again. There was a writing on the sign: St James Park. It was a big park, had a lake. I sat a bank in front of the lake.

I watched the birds that were trying to make a home and cats that were waiting food someones  and the last i looked a dog that was seeiming like crying.  It was sitting next to a tree and seeming so poor. I went to its beside and heard some voice from it like crying. It was a big dog but it was seeming like very undefence. I looked it more careful to understand why it was crying. Then i noticed it was wounded. I was feeling very sorry for it. I took it to a vet by a taxi. The vet was a pretty woman. Her name was Lenobia Alen. She made me calm by told me the dog was fine. The dog had a pet apperance but there wasn't any owner.  Miss Alen told me that it used to belong an old man but when he die, the dog stayed ownerless. It was explaining the dog's well groomed apperance. I decided to take it to my hotel.

While i was going to my room, i was thinking what its name should be. When i opened the door, i found; Ghost. I looked to Ghost with a big smile on my face. Ghost was seeming lazy and sleeper. I envied it. I put on ground a soft and tiny pillow. It would be Ghost's bed.

My clumsy dog lied down to the bed. I went to the kitchen for find some dog food. There wasn't. I went out the hotel and entered into a supermarket. I bought a collar, a kennel and a medium size pocket of dog food. It should be enough, at least for a week.  I turned back my room and looked my new dog. It stood up like it understood it will eat. When I looked it i felt my headache lessent. I already got used to Ghost.

After i fed it, i saw my map was on the coffee table. It was so inviting. I prepared and went out with Ghost. While we were going downstairs, i decided where we'll go. I directed Ghost to the Big Ben.

While we were walking, i thought i did well with going out. It made me feel better. I took a breath. The weather was fresh. When we arrived the Big Ben, Ghost started to bark and jump. Ghost was seeming it was in its favourite place. There were a tourist group. I joined them. Their guide was telling them a lot of stuff about the clock. The guide was very boring. He was telling just information, not stories about the clock.

"... Its formal name is Saint Stephen's Tower. 'Big Ben' name uses for one of five bells on the clock. The bell has 16 ton weight. The clock's face is about 7.5 meters. Its numbers are about 60 centimeters. Big Ben knowns with its correctness time..."

After our Big Ben journey we went to the Museum of Garden History. There were a lot of stuff about gardening.

Someones were beautiful, someones were ugly but i could see all of them were useful.

When i saw them i loved gardening. Who knows maybe when i turned home, i learn? But my favourite part in the museum is gardens.

The plants had so sweet apperance.  Someones were next to an ornamental pool.

Pink, red, yellow... the colours were  brillant! We walked around it about two hours. Of course i took a lot of photos.

When we left the museum, i noticed Ghost was tired. We went back to hotel. These adventures enough for a day. I put dog food in a case on the ground. Ghost slept after its dinner. I looked its wound and i felt remorseful for i made it tired. It should have rest. I looked out the window. It was too late to stay awake.

A Long Travel 3 Part 3

When i opened my eyes, i thought 'The light is so much!' I swallowed. I felt so thirsty. "Water..." just i could said this. I felt myself like I was crushed by a turck. When I started to think more clearly, I noticed i was a room in hospital. The room was white and clean. And a nurse was looking on a dozen of papers.

She notices i woke up and said "Have a nice day Miss Çetin. Do you remember the accident?" She was about twenty-five and blond. She had a smile like she'll never give up. "Yes, I remember. May i take some water and aspirin?" I said her with a sleepy voice. She smiled again, "Sure." said and gave me a glass of water and an aspirin. I drank them. She said "The policemen'll come here. Are you OK or do you want from me dismiss them? They can come here again after two or three hours." The best is to do and to save. "They may come. I'm OK." The nurse went out. I took a deep breath and I said myself "You can do everything. Just want." When two policemen came in, I was feeling better.

They introduced me theirselves. "Hi, I'm Thomas Gray, and this my assistant Ethan Walton. I hope you're fine?" He said that like an question. Was i fine? I wasn't sure. "Yes, I think so." The assistant asked me, "Can you tell us the accident?". Suddenly i felt myself so tired. And i had a headache. I hate aches. "Yes. I was walking on the sidewalk and I heard a horn voice. Then a black, sport car striked me. I fell ground. That's all." I looked the assistant who was wiriting my every speech on a notebook. He was seeming understanding. I hated him. He couldn't understand me. That headache was incrediable! Nobody couldn't get it! "Could you see its license plate?" said Thomas Gray. He was about forty. He had grey hair. I told them everything that i know. Why couldn't they get it? "No" I said with a dry voice. I was really tired and i want to finish this interrogation. Thomas Gray asked me more and more questions. After half an hour,  they went and i took a relaxing breath. I need to rest. I closed my eyes and didn't think anything. I didn't have energy for to think.

I didn't know how long time pass, I opened my eyes because of the nurse's thouching. She gave me some medicines that i guessed they're aspirin. After I drank them she told me i could go when i want. I smiled but I was very tired and i didn't sure that i could go to the hotel without i get lost. "I want to stay here one more night." The nurse said i could and went out. Again i closed my eyes and saw a dream but this time i was feeling better, i  think because of aspirins.

In my dream there was a child who was about eight. We were in a forest and running. She was running in front of me. She stopped and asked "Did you lose anything?". I don't know why but i said "Yes, i lost." I noticed there was a box in her hands and when i saw it, i don't know how it happened but i understood that was my lost stuf. I woke up when i bent to take it.
When i got up, it was about eleven. I stood up. The room was very stuffy. I openned the window.

There was a wonderful scene. Fullmoon settled in sky's top. I took deeply a fresh breath. That was my second day in London and i proved that i'm the luckiest person all around the world. I went to end table that my phone was on it. I called my mumy and I told her everything. Of course she didn't believe i was OK. And she said "I'm coming there right now!" I made her calm very hardly. How i could forget quickly, my mum is always too anxious. Whatever, when she was calmly, she didn't know but she made me too tired. I went to bed and i fell asleep.

A Long Travel 3 Part 2

I bought a ticket and i waited for five or six minutes. The boat came and passengers got off. They were smiling and this made me excited. My turn came. I got on the boat and my travel started. The boat was going on River Thomas. It was very beautiful a river. I loved river's fresh smell and its scene. I took a lot of photos of the River.

Everybody got off in the Greenland Pier Stop. But I stayed because I'm foreign here and i don't know very well ways. I don't want to get lost on my first day here.

The boat turned back to the Festival Pier stop and again to the Greenland Pier. I got off in the Festival Pier Stop. I was smiling when i got off like the other passengers. The River had a magical effect on the passengers. I looked my camera and i smiled again. I really liked being here. I thought my mother. She said "You'll like being there. I know you honey." My sweet mum, of course you know me better than i know. I took a deep breath. The days of i'll be herre won't be long.
I started to walk. I heard a loud voice: A horn voice. Everything happened so fast. I saw a black and sport car. After i saw it I fell ground.

I could see everything but couldn't feel anything, any pain. I could just hear people's loud voice. A man shouted "CALL 911!" A woman said with a calmer voice "I'm a doctor! Don't thouch the girl, Anybody!" and i lost my vision ability. When i fell into darkness, I started to feel pain. It was too strong and i lost my thought ability too. I tried to open my eyes but the darkness was so heavy.

Personal Improvement

Self Experimentation

Self-experimentation refers to the very special case of single-subject scientific experimentation in which the experimenter conducts the experiment on her- or himself. Usually this means that the designer, operator, subject, analyst, and user or reporter of the experiment are all the same. It is a special case of single-subject research.

Psychology

The self-experimental approach has long and often been applied to practical psychological problems. Benjamin Franklin recorded his self-experiment of successively devoting his attention for a week to one of thirteen "Virtues", "leaving the other Virtues to their ordinary Chance, only marking every Evening the Faults of the Day." In Self-change: Strategies for solving personal problems, M. J. Mahoney suggested that self-experimentation be used as a method of psychological treatment. He recommended that clients be taught basic scientific methods, in order that the client become a "personal scientist."

Psycology of Self

The psychology of self is the study of either the cognitive, conative or affective representation of one's identity or the subject of experience. The earliest formulation of the self in modern psychology derived from the distinction between the self as I, the subjective knower, and the self as Me, the object that is known.
Current views of the self in psychology position the self as playing an integral part in human motivation, cognition, affect, and social identity. It may be the case that we can now usefully attempt to ground experience of self in a neural process with cognitive consequences, which will give us insight into the elements of which the complex multiply situated selves of modern identity are composed.
The self has many facets that help make up integral parts of it, such as self-awareness, self-esteem, self-knowledge, and self-perception. All parts of the self enable people to alter, change, add, and modify aspects of themselves in order to gain social acceptance in society. “Probably the best account of the origins of selfhood is that the self comes into being at the interface between the inner biological processes of the human body and the sociocultural
network to which the person belongs.”

Positive Psychology

Positive psychology is a recent branch of psychology whose purpose was summed up in 1998 by Martin Seligman and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi: "We believe that a psychology of positive human functioning will arise, which achieves a scientific understanding and effective interventions to build thriving individuals, families, and communities." Positive psychologists seek "to find and nurture genius and talent" and "to make normal life more fulfilling", rather than merely treating mental illness. Positive psychology is primarily concerned with using the psychological theory, research and intervention techniques to understand the positive, adaptive, creative and emotionally fulfilling aspects of human behavior.
As the medical field begins to appreciate the value of positive psychosocial factors in the prevention and management of pathology, positive psychiatry is emerging in its own right.

Trees

In botany, a tree is a perennial plant with an elongated stem, or trunk, supporting leaves or branches.
In some usages, the definition of a tree may be narrower, including only woody plants, only plants that are usable as lumber or only plants above a specified height. At its broadest, trees include the tallerpalms, the tree ferns, bananas and bamboo.

A tree typically has many secondary branches supported clear of the ground by the trunk. This trunk typically contains woody tissue for strength, and vascular tissue to carry materials from one part of the tree to another. For most trees it is surrounded by a layer of bark which serves as a protective barrier. Below the ground, the roots branch and spread out widely; they serve to anchor the tree and extract moisture and nutrients from the soil. Above ground, the branches divide into smaller branches and shoots. The shoots typically bear leaves, which capture light energy and convert it into chemical energy by photosynthesis, providing the food needed by the tree for its growth and development.

Flowers and fruit may also be present, but some trees such as conifers instead have pollen cones and seed cones, and others such as tree ferns produce spores instead.
Trees tend to be long-lived, some reaching several thousand years old. The tallest known specimen on Earth is 115.6 m (379 ft) and they have a theoretical maximum height of 130 m (426 ft). Trees have been in existence on the Earth for 370 million years. Trees are not a taxonomic group but are a number of plant species that have independently evolved a woody trunk and branches as a way to tower above other plants and make full use of the sunlight.

Trees play a significant role in reducing erosion and moderating the climate. They remove carbon dioxidefrom the atmosphere and store large quantities of carbon in their tissues. Trees and forests provide a habitat for many species of animals and plants. Tropical rainforests are one of the most biodiverse habitats in the world. Trees provide shade and shelter, timber for construction, fuel for cooking and heating, and fruit for food as well as having many other uses. In parts of the world, forests are shrinking as trees are cleared to increase the amount of land available for agriculture. Because of their longevity and usefulness, trees have always been revered and they play a role in many of the world'smythologies.

A Long Travel 3 Part 1

Chapter 3

(First day in the UK)
I woke up with the hitting sunlight to my face. It was sunny and warm, in fact... hot. Today is my first day in the UK. I don't want to spend all my time in hotel. If i came here, i must spend all my time in the best way possible. Yesterday evening i wrote at a
paper about that everything i'll do tomorrow. I took that paper. Likely i'm going to London Big Ben. I've never seen Big Ben. Then i'm going to Hyde Park and i'll turn back. They're enough for my first day in the UK. And also i'm here because of my mum's thought 'Your English level will be better there than present.' so i must have practice, it doesn't mean i must travel. I think my day's starting. I was prepared and i went out. I had a blue backpack on my back, i was holding a guide and i have a photgraph machine on my neck. I was lacking only "I AM A TOURIST" sign on my forehead . I think i should wear a t-shirt that writing 'I'm not a toursit' on it.

I could understand people's thoughts in their eye. I think they're too cold. I never say because they are my nationality but Turkish people are really warm people. If i get lost, i can find my home easily because they are so helpful. But here is... If you've any accent, people are looking comically to you. I think i'll use metro today. The UK has a really big metro network. "If you're new here,  you shouldn't forget 'your hotel should be near to metro network'. " I read this sentences on the net but i couldn't understand; i understand barely, it is important to stay in a hotel near the metro network. Because you can go everywhere with highway. I got on the metro. I was trying to memorize the London map. After a short time i looked at the screen, i saw in  which stop the metro is. I'll get off Westminster Stop but the metro is at Embankment Stop. I mean i lost my stop. I got off right away. I was trying to understand where i am. It was too difficult for me but finally i found where i am. I just missed a stop. 'It isn't a problem, i can find my way.' I need to go ahead but there is a boat across the bridge. I went Jubille Bridge and i saw Festival Pier. I thought "It isn't so important if i exchange the program for once. I'm the boss, right?" Whatever, when i went to the Festival Pier, i saw a lot of people in the river boat. The pier is used for summer leisure cruises between Westminster and Greenwich opperated by City Cruises. I looked my map and thought my plans. And i said, 'whose care?'.

A Day In John's Life

It was a beautiful day. John was riding his bicycle. It was Sunday. So, he was allowed to ride his bicycle as long as he liked. He was also allowed to play computer games but he didn’t want to stay indoors on such a beautiful day.  On the way he met his cousin, Bill, who was also cycling. They had a happy life in the countryside. The school was 5 km from the village. Bill: Shall we ride as far as the school and back? John: But school is closed, you know. Bill: We will ride for fun. John: Well. Why not?

Then they began cycling to school. It took them only five minutes. They met some friends at the school garden. They were playing basketball. They asked John and Bill to join them. Bill was willing to play. He liked playing basketball and he was good at it. However, John didn’t want to play. “There are too many rules in this game”, he always said. But now he thought to himself, “Bill is going to play and if he joins the game I will have to play too. If I don’t play, Bill will be upset, but I don’t want to upset him.” So they both joined the game. It was enjoyable and exciting for Bill boring and difficult for John. Then the game was over and Bill’s team was the winner. His team-mates (=friends) were carrying Bill on their shoulders because he had played very well and enabled them to win. John was in the loser’s team but he wasn’t unhappy. On the contrary, he was happy because Bill was happy.

Then John told Bill, “How about a race back to the village? I am sure I will beat you in that” In reply to this challenge Bill said, “No, you can’t. I can beat you in cycling too”. Then an exciting race began. At first Bill was Bill was cycling faster than John. John, who was a famous cyclist, didn’t want to be the loser this time. So, he stepped harder on the pedals. He got faster and faster. Finally he could pass Bill and he was the first to reach the village; he was the winner. John was happy. Bill wasn’t unhappy.

It was almost the evening when they reached the village. John invited Bill for dinner. Bill happily accepted his invitation because he loved his aunt’s meals. When they reached home they were surprised to find that Bill’s family was also there. John’s father had invited them for dinner. After dinner, they began to talk. The boys told their parents about the day. It was exciting for them and enjoyable for their parents.

At 10.00 pm, John went home with his family. He would go to school tomorrow. So would Bill.
They needed sleep. It had been a beautiful but tiring day.

A Long Travel 2

Chapter 2
(My mother and i are at the airport. My plane is ready to departure.)
Me: Mom you may go i can stay alone also i’ll be alone in there.
My Mother: Because of that Sueda, i don’t want to leave you already!
My mother seems sad, i thought ‘was she regretful?’ She is just as addicted to me as i'm to her. But when she gave the ticket, she was relaxed. Maybe she was just srtaring to realize? I took a deep breath. I think i was just starting to realize…
(After 4 hours, when i arrived in Londra, i was too excited. It is 7 pm.)
Heatrow airport was too big. I was afraid that to get lost. I took a deeply breath and i said to myself ‘Be brave’ I found a bus. The bus’s name is National Express. You must get used to it here. You are in the UK. The bus is not big it’s medium-sized. I was going to  hotel with the bus. When i was going, i was looking out of the window. I wasn’t accustomed to here, to be in a overseas. Where are you mumy? I miss you so much already!
I came to my stop, i entered the hotel. The hotel's name is Double Tree by Hilton London-West End. The hotel was too big. I rented a room for a month. It is 8. Am i ready for this adventure? It doesn’t matter anymore. I can’t go back. The people are cold. Where are you my warm nation's people? I took a guide about London. I planned places that i’ll go tomorrow. To have a plan is good. You know what you should do or you shouldn’t do… It’s 10 pm. It was such a tiring day. I don’t know how this long month  will pass?.. I fell asleep with this thought.
